Samantha suffers with mobility issues due to problems with her knee. As a result, she experiences severe pain and is unable to sit in one place for a prolonged period without a break. She is therefore disabled. Samantha was subjected to a lot of pressure at work and no reasonable adjustments were made even though her employer knew about her struggles.
Samantha was even assigned a new manager and told that it was because they thought she was slow. As well as this, her manager would ask her intrusive questions about her physical condition. She was told by management that she was not chosen to go on the work trip abroad due to her disability. There were also times where Samantha’s colleagues would laugh and make comments about her mobility issues.
Samantha came to us for advice on her employment rights. Consequently, she made a claim to the Employment Tribunal for disability discrimination and harassment. With our assistance, Samantha managed to negotiate a £37,000 settlement without having to go all the way to the Tribunal!
